Lower The Driving Age Essay

  • I happen to be a competent 14 year old.

I believe that the driving age should be lowered, because already kids have to take a test and a class to get their driver's liscence, what's the difference if they take that test at a younger age? If they pass the test then that already proves that they're competent enough. The only thing that could be considered a problem is reaching the pedals.

  • Being Prepared for the Futire

Kids nowadays need to be more prepared. At the age of 16 we are expected to have jobs which we can go to and from ourselves. Many people do not have the time to get their permit or license before that age, leaving them sorely behind. If the permit age was 13, and the license age was 15, then people would have more time to prepare for the common driving that they would have to do, and since people under 16 still require a parent with them to drive, they would still be able to have 2 years under their belt, which would be the same as otherwise, but they would be given an extra year before they needed to get a job , which in my opinion, gives them more time to be prepared to be driving on a every day driving.

  • Lower age teens need freedom once In awhile

When you feel like breaking down once in awhile you could go on a drive and shake a lot of things off p.S if you have a job or need to go to school , you wont have to wait around to look for a driver :/ btw we could drive for our parents if they had a bad excuse on something ' but that would mean we would also have to pass the driver's test ! And a lot of teens would have to put a lot of effort ? Into the courses ,.... But that would really depend on our parents '

  • Easier to learn when younger.

People that learn to drive at 30 for example may have a phobia. So to prevent it we can lower the age to 15. Yes there will be more car crashes if the teen is an idiot wanting to risk their life. No matter what happeneds adults will do that too.

  • I wanna drive

People should be able to drive to work so they can pay for what you need. Most farm kids drive when they are 12 because when you have only 2 people in your family that can drive and you are in the middle of harvest you need other people to drive grain trucks and tractors and numerous other equipment. Not having a driving license does not stop most farm kids, because they drive at home any way. But it would be nice if it was legal. And they have to pass the drivers test anyway so if they are a bad driver then they wont get their license and life goes on!!

  • They can learn

If children work then they can buy what they want and take more stress off their parents so they are not troubling them with what they want to buy. For example if the working age was lowered to 14 then i would be able to work in 18 days because i need a phone case bike tire tubes and some headphones so if i were able to work i could buy the things i want and i could pay my own bus fare so my mom wouldn't have to worry about it.

  • Driving age should be lowered

At 16 we are made to make the decision of what we want to do with the rest of our life, but are unable to learn to drive a car and we arte expected to get part time jobs but we have to get our selves there and back, rather than being able to do it ourself

  • The driving age should be lowered to at least 13 years of age.

When your 13 you have a bit of better judgement than someone who just wants to experiment and experience. Starting at a young age has a higher percentage of perfecting the skills of driving. Some children have faster reflexes than adults (avoiding car crashes). Adults get into accidents all the time because some may get sloppy after years of "safe driving", while a younger mind might be more cautious with the possibility of getting into an accident.

  • I started at a young age

I"m for lowering the age to drive because I learned to drive at the age of 12 in Mexico. I began at the age of 9 learning basic steering then from there on added more to my learning arsenal with signals and how far back to press on the break and when to accelerate. I"m not saying to just drop the age limit and be on your way, I believe the test should be much harder if you're trying to get it a young age and really test your knowledge of the road and the driving portion should be a two patter and the amount of mistakes allowed should be dropped and you may only pass with a 95 or better

  • Should the Legal Driving Age Be Raised? Essay

    526 Words3 Pages

The big debate as to whether the legal driving age should be raised to eighteen is an ongoing issue. There are both arguments for and against this matter. Younger drivers, as well as old ones, can cause many life-threatening accidents; therefore, raising the minimum driving age could significantly reduce the number of accidents. The accident rates can be lowered considerably if the legal driving age is bumped up to eighteen. This would mean that no more kids could get hurt or worse, killed in a car accident.

Despite the fact that it is illegal in Australia to use your mobile phone whilst driving, as it is a distraction, one in three (34%) of teenagers between the ages of 16-17 have texted whilst driving. Texting and driving at the same time has been proven to be a serious problem amongst adolescent drivers who are more familiar with technology and think that they are capable of doing both at the same time without causing an accident. Increasing the legal driving age to eighteen would upturn the level of maturity in all areas and would increase the levels of awareness and dangers of being distracted by technology whilst driving. Although, this can be more of a question of experience and obedience to being a good driver as opposed to a question of age, if adolescents are more likely to be able to access more advanced technology more often, it stands to reason that raising the legal driving age would simply delay any potential problems rather than solving them. The development
