Tomorrow I will introduce the activity for this chapter. Students will be looking at three different women micro-entrepreneurs, from three different countries. We will be looking at the following areas:
Section 3: Grinding Peanuts in Rural Mali Section 4: Selling in Uganda’s “Poor Man’s Market” Section 5: Cooking Up Comfort Food in Botswana
Students will then be placed into groups of 2 or 3 to create a pamphlet to promote micro-enterprises.
They will need to picture themselves working for an organization that educates women in developing countries in Africa about micro-entrepreneurs. Their task will be to design a pamphlet for these women. It should be engaging and easy to understand. It should also answer the Essential Question:
How are women micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries changing their communities?
We will be using Microsoft Office Publisher to create a three paneled brochure/pamphlet. We will begin this project either tomorrow or Wednesday. It will depend where we are. On another note, this week are Parent-Teacher Conferences. They will take place on Wednesday & Thursday of this week from 4:00pm-7:00pm. I will be in the gymnasium. I look forward to see all of you that can make it.
